Most security teams subscribe to more threat‑intel feeds than they can digest, yet attackers keep winning. Cyware’s Jawahar Sivasankaran explains why: Outside the Fortune 500 and federal agencies, many organizations still treat cyberthreat intelligence (CTI) as another inbox rather than an engine for action. They know intel is “absolutely critical,” but legacy tools and skill gaps.. The post The Challenges of Operationalizing Threat Intelligence appeared first on Security Boulevard.

What does it mean for a foundational blockchain project to redefine its purpose within a rapidly evolving ecosystem? Cartesi, an early Layer 2 (L2) project within the Ethereum landscape, recently announced a significant re-orientation of its engineering efforts. This shift moves Cartesi away from a competitive stance and towards a role of direct contribution to Ethereum’s underlying technical infrastructure. The move comes as the broader blockchain industry continues to grapple with scalability and decentralization. Many projects have emerged with independent solutions, sometimes leading to fragmentation. Cartesi’s decision to align more closely with Ethereum’s core technical needs reflects a growing sentiment…

5 Features Every AI-Powered SOC Platform Needs in 2025 Pierluigi Paganini July 18, 2025 A modern AI-based SOC platform must adapt in real time to handle alert overloads and fast-moving threats, surpassing traditional SIEM tools. Modern security operations centers (SOCs) are under immense pressure. Analysts are overwhelmed, alert queues are overflowing, and attackers are moving faster than ever. Where once it was enough to have good visibility and a decent SIEM, security operations today require need platforms that can think, act, and adapt in real time. They need an AI-powered SOC. But finding the right solution can be tough. With…

AI companies could soon disrupt the education market with their new AI-based learning tools for students. BleepingComputer recently reported that OpenAI is working on a Study Together feature for ChatGPT. This would allow ChatGPT to teach students a wide range of topics and then offer quizzes. The idea is to create an engaging and interactive “study together” experience where students ask questions and ChatGPT puts in effort to teach them. But it turns out that OpenAI isn’t the only AI company pursuing this industry. Claude maker Anthropic is also building a new Study Projects feature. As spotted on X, Claude’s Study…

What Are Random Effects and Fixed Effects? When designing a study, we often aim to isolate independent variables from those of no interest to observe their true effects on the dependent variables. For example, let’s say we would like to study the effects of using Github Copilot (independent variable) on developer productivity (dependent variable). One approach is to measure how much time developers spend using Copilot and how quickly they complete coding tasks. At first glance, we may observe a strong positive correlation: more Copilot usage, faster task completion. However, other factors can also influence how quickly developers finish their…

Topsec and Venustech were two firms alleged to have assisted these efforts. Topsec employed a number of former Honkers, including the founder of the Honker Union of China, and Topsec’s founder once acknowledged in an interview that the PLA directed his company. In 2015, Topsec was linked to state-sponsored cyber operations, including the Anthem Insurance breach in the US.Over the years, many tools used by China APT groups were built by Honkers, and the PLA and MSS mined them for vulnerability research and exploit development. In 1999, Huang Xin (glacier), a member of Green Army, released “Glacier,” a remote-access trojan.…

New research from Forescout reveals that while the migration to post-quantum cryptography is underway, progress remains uneven, creating future risks for compliance and cybersecurity. According to the study, approximately 6% of the 186 million SSH servers currently accessible on the internet have adopted quantum-safe encryption. Among OpenSSH servers specifically, that figure climbs to over 20%.  To deal with these issues, Forescout unveiled its Forescout 4D Platform to continuously identify, protect, and ensure compliance of managed and unmanaged cyber assets across IT, IoT (Internet of Things), IoMT (Internet of Medical Things), and OT (operational technology), without business disruption. It delivers comprehensive…

In a coordinated operation this week, law enforcement from a dozen countries gathered together in an attempt to dismantle the infrastructure of the pro-Russian hacking group known as NoName057(16). The operation, named Eastwood, was led by Europol and Eurojust and included action across Europe and North America. NoName057(16) has been known for flooding websites with traffic in politically motivated distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. Their usual targets have ranged from Ukrainian government platforms to critical websites in NATO countries that support Ukraine. While many of their attackers were disruptive, they rarely caused long-lasting damage due to quick mitigation from targeted organisations.…

In this Help Net Security interview, Galal Ibrahim Maghola, former Head of Cybersecurity at G42 Company, discusses strategic approaches to implementing DevSecOps at scale. Drawing on experience in regulated industries such as finance, telecom, and critical infrastructure, he offers tips on ownership models, automation, and compliance. His approach focuses on collaborative practices that balance speed, security, and developer productivity. How do you recommend companies structure ownership of DevSecOps? Should security teams drive it, or is it more effective when it’s developer-led? In my view, DevSecOps should be structured as a shared responsibility model, with ownership but no silos. Security teams…
