Six months after finalizing its cybersecurity rule, the U.S. Coast Guard has now enacted it across the Marine Transportation System (MTS) as of this week. The rule mandates reporting of cyber incidents, annual cybersecurity training, and submission of a Cybersecurity Plan by 2027. Fixing the clearance bottleneck: Cut red tape, not capabilities Multiplied by 80,000 transactions, we are looking at nearly half a billion dollars in wasted time every year, ultimately paid by the taxpayer. Phobos is a ransomware-as-a-service operation that launched in December 2018, enabling other threat actors to join as affiliates and utilize their encryption tool in attacks. In exchange, any ransom payments were split between the affiliate and the operators. While the ransomware operation did not receive as much media attention as other ransomware operations, Phobos is considered one of the most widely distributed ransomware operations, responsible for many attacks on businesses worldwide. In 2023,…

genes are so important for triggering the immune system, that we can use these genes to predict a person’s immune response. Here I will demonstrate how to estimate disease rates just from immune gene frequencies. All the steps from getting the immune gene data, to identifying high risk countries, and assessing limitations of the model are discussed and the full code is available at github.com/DAWells/HLA_spondylitis_rate. HLA genes are associated with a person’s response to infection, vaccination, and often very strongly linked to autoimmune diseases. So strongly linked in fact, that in large groups we can predict disease rates from HLA…
