Cloud Security’s New Frontier: How Generative AI is Transforming Threat Detection The cybersecurity landscape is shifting beneath our feet. Traditional perimeter defenses are crumbling, and cloud environments have become increasingly complex battlegrounds where attackers constantly evolve their tactics. Enter Chen Burshan, CEO of Skyhawk Security, a visionary who understands that modern cloud security requires more than reactive monitoring – it demands proactive, intelligent defense strategies. “Attacks on the cloud are almost doubling year over year,” Burshan explains. “There are no longer clear perimeters. In most cases, attackers aren’t breaking in – they’re simply logging in.” This stark reality underscores a…
Meet the Next Generation of Threat Intelligence Unit 42’s Threat Intelligence teams work to proactively discover, analyze and contextualize sophisticated cyberthreats to empower both Palo Alto Networks products and the broader security community. To gain insight into the scope and responsibilities of these teams, I sat down with two Unit 42 interns, Gabrielle Calderon and Sakthi Vinayak. Sakthi is a Threat Research Intern and Gabrielle is a Malware Reverse Engineering Intern. Over the 12 week span of their internship, they’ve worked side-by-side with professionals on expansive projects, deepening their understanding of the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape. Walk me through your background…

Sangoma has released emergency patches for a zero-day vulnerability exploited to hack FreePBX servers with the administrator control panel accessible from the internet. Tracked as CVE-2025-57819 (CVSS score of 10/10), the bug is described as an insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data. Successful exploitation of the flaw allows attackers to access the FreePBX administrator panel, enabling database manipulation and remote code execution (RCE). Fixes were rolled out for FreePBX versions 15, 16, and 17, after Sangoma discovered that the security defect had been exploited in the wild starting on or before August 21. The hacked servers had inadequate IP filtering/ACLs, as…
