The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency faces an uncertain future after more than one-third of the agency, including more than a dozen senior leaders, have left their positions in recent months. Meanwhile, many of CISA’s engagements with industry have been paused after Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem terminated a key partnership council in March. CISA also faces the prospect of losing longstanding information sharing authorities in September and is tasked with finalizing landmark cyber incident reporting rules by November. The inflection point comes as Sean Plankey, the nominee for CISA director, testifies before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs…

Brian Fehrman // You’ve sent your phishing ruse, the target has run the Meterpreter payload, and you have shell on their system. Now what? If you follow our blogs, you probably have quite a few ideas! One thing that I don’t typically do is port scan other systems on the network. There are a few reasons for this. Port scanning is quite noisy, many IDS packages are set to quickly alert on these activities, and most of the time it isn’t needed to achieve my goals. Regardless, let’s say that you do find yourself in a situation where you do need…
New research from Honeywell points to sharp and growing ransomware threats against industrial operators and manufacturers. Ransomware attacks jumped by 46 percent in the first quarter of 2025, with the Cl0p ransomware group emerging as the most active threat actor. During that same quarter, the Honeywell 2025 Cyber Threat Report reported 2,472 new ransomware victims, adding to the 6,130 incidents documented in 2024. The OT (operational technology) layer remains a prime target. Of the 55 cybersecurity incidents companies disclosed through SEC Form 8-K in 2024, more than half, 30 cases, were direct attacks on OT systems. One of the most…

Summer vacation season is upon us, and millions of families are booking accommodations for their dream getaways. But with the surge in travel bookings comes an unfortunate reality: accommodation scams are on the rise, and they’re becoming increasingly sophisticated. With the right knowledge and proactive measures, you can protect yourself and your family from these predators. Even better, if you do fall victim to a scam, there are specific steps you can take…
, myself included, start their coding journey using a Jupyter Notebook. These files have the extension .ipynb, which stands for Interactive Python Notebook. As the extension name suggests, it has an intuitive and interactive user interface. The notebook is broken down into ‘cells’ or small blocks of separated code or markdown (text) language. Outputs are displayed underneath each cell once the code within that cell has been executed. This promotes a flexible and interactive environment for coders to build their coding skills and start working on data science projects. A typical example of a Jupyter Notebook is below: Example of…
