The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has published a cybersecurity advisory warning of ransomware hackers leveraging unpatched instances of a vulnerability in SimpleHelp Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) to compromise customers of a utility billing software provider. The incident reflects a broader pattern of ransomware hackers targeting organizations through unpatched versions of SimpleHelp RMM since January this year. Critical infrastructure organizations have been urged to apply mitigations. SimpleHelp versions 5.5.7 and earlier contain multiple vulnerabilities, including CVE-2024-57727, a path traversal flaw. Ransomware actors likely exploited this vulnerability to compromise unpatched remote monitoring and management (RMM) instances, leading to…
As the line between AI automation and autonomous agency blurs, a new technical frontier is emerging, trusted, verifiable agents that can act independently across ecosystems. We sat down with Matthieu Jung, the Product Marketing Manager at iExec, to explore what this shift means for the future of intelligent infrastructure, what problems it solves, and how developers and companies should be thinking differently about agent-based computation. Ishan Pandey: Thanks for joining us. To start, can you explain what “Trusted AI Agents” actually are in your framework, and how they differ from the typical AI agents we see in automation or LLM-based…
A tool to generate password usage statics in a Windows domain based on hashes dumped from a domain controller. The Domain Password Audit Tool (DPAT) is a python script that analyzes the hash information in combination with a list of cracked passwords output from a tool such as oclHashcat. The script generates an interactive HTML report containing complete details to help you understand password use in an environment and identify issues. An option to generate a sanitized version of the report is also included. Example Summary Page of DPAT Report Complete usage instructions and code are available on GitHub here:…

Summary: Opinion piece for the general TDS audience. I argue that AI is more transparent than humans in tangible ways. Claims of AI being a “black box” lack perspective and comparison to the opacity in studies of human intelligence which in some ways is behind studies of artificial intelligence. reader, are a black box. Your mind is mysterious. I can’t know how you are thinking. I can’t know what you will do and I can’t know whether your words are honest and whether you justify your actions honestly and without pretext. We learn to understand and trust humans from many…
Paraguay Suffered Data Breach: 7.4 Million Citizen Records Leaked on Dark Web Pierluigi Paganini June 13, 2025 Resecurity researchers found 7.4 million records containing personally identifiable information (PII) of Paraguay citizens on the dark web. Resecurity has identified 7.4 million records containing personally identifiable information (PII) of Paraguayan citizens leaked on the dark web today. Last week, cybercriminals have offered information about all citizens of Paraguay for sale, demanding $7.4 million in ransom payments, $1 per citizen. A ransomware group was extorting the entire country in what is probably one of the most significant cybersecurity incidents in the nation’s history,…
In this Help Net Security interview, Amichai Shulman, CTO at Nokod Security, discusses how the abstraction layer in no-code environments complicates security by obscuring data flow, identity propagation, and control logic. Shulman also addresses why vulnerabilities in no-code applications go far beyond simple misconfigurations or insecure defaults. How does the abstraction layer in no-code environments complicate visibility into data flow, identity propagation, or control logic? The use of no-code tools to generate custom applications in enterprises creates a bigger distance between the representation of software as reflected to the developer and the actual machine code implementing the application. This distance…
