Here’s a look at the most interesting products from the past week, featuring releases from BigID, Dashlane, Sumsub, and Jumio. Dashlane’s AI model alerts businesses to phishing risks In contrast to rule-based filters or reliance on a threat intel database, Dashlane’s AI phishing alerts leverage an AI model that analyzes 79 phishing indicators in real-time, such as hidden login forms, external link ratios and concealed iFrames, to determine whether a domain is potentially malicious. Analysis occurs directly on the user’s device, ensuring complete privacy protection. Sumsub Device Intelligence offers protection against identity threats Combined with behavioral analysis and device fingerprinting,…
The CEO of Nokia, on the eve of being purchased by Microsoft, said “we didn’t do anything wrong but somehow, we lost.” These words describe the reality businesses face: embrace change or get left behind. The same is true for CISOs, particularly in the rapidly evolving AI economy. The Roots of an AI-First Strategy in Cyber Let’s look at the digital (r)evolutions that brought us to the AI economy. Each evolution brought benefits, including new efficiencies, capabilities, and competitive advantages. The underlying technologies also brought new security risks and threats: Software & SaaS Era (1990s–2010s): This period saw automation, increased productivity,…
Joff Thyer // One of my observations over time in the Information Security market is that the vendors seem to want to solve challenges with appliance point solutions. It is perfectly understandable that people want a piece of the fiscal pie and makes a healthy living, but in today’s threat environment this approach is failing. Mature organizations are naturally looking for solutions because they know from their metrics, and their security operations programs that things are not as healthy as they would like. They are tired of solutions that link their security operations people to a firehose of mostly irrelevant…
Iran confirmed it shut down internet to protect the country against cyberattacks Pierluigi Paganini June 21, 2025 Iran confirmed an Internet shutdown to counter Israeli cyberattacks, citing threats to critical infrastructure, and interfere with drone control. Iran experienced a near-total internet blackout on Wednesday as tensions with Israel escalated into the first week of conflict. However, the exact cause behind the collapse of Iran’s internet remains unclear. While the timing coincides with escalating military conflict and a wave of cyberattacks, there is no evidence linking the internet blackout to a specific technical failure, deliberate government action, or external cyber operation.…
isn’t yet another explanation of the chain rule. It’s a tour through the bizarre side of autograd — where gradients serve physics, not just weights I originally wrote this tutorial for myself during the first year of my PhD, while navigating the intricacies of gradient calculations in PyTorch. Most of it is clearly designed with standard backpropagation in mind — and that’s fine, since that’s what most people need. But Physics-Informed Neural Network (PINN) is a moody beast and it needs a different kind of gradient logic. I spent some time feeding it and I figured it might be worth…
In brief MapleStory N creator Nexpace is banning thousands of accounts tied to hackers, botters, and abusers every day. One player reported seeing a cheater beat the end game boss on their own, despite not having the equipment to do so. Nexpace is enhancing cheat detection, has added a 30-hour cash-out delay, and has a clawback function to reclaim assets stranded by banned exploiters. Avalanche massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) MapleStory N has been inundated with bots and hackers since its massive launch in May.Keith Kim, head of strategy at developer Nexpace—the blockchain arm of gaming giant Nexon—told Decrypt…

On Friday, American insurance giant Aflac disclosed that its systems were breached in a broader campaign targeting insurance companies across the United States by attackers who may have stolen personal and health information. Aflac (short for American Family Life Assurance Company) is the largest supplemental insurance provider in the U.S. and a Fortune 500 company that provides insurance services to millions of customers in the U.S. and Japan. In a press release earlier today, the insurance company added that its network was not affected by ransomware. It is unclear, though, if ransomware was deployed and blocked or if this was…
Stanford recently released its AI Index 2025, and it’s packed with insights on how AI is changing. For CISOs, it’s a solid check-in on where things stand. It covers what the tech can do now, how governments are responding, and where public opinion is heading. Here’s what’s worth knowing. AI is improving fast and showing up everywhere New models are performing better on hard benchmarks and tackling complex tasks like coding and math with more success than last year. Some agents are even outpacing humans, under time constraints at least. Video generation, protein sequencing, and medical diagnosis are areas where…
