The Health-ISAC and CI-ISAC Australia recognize in a joint white paper that, as espionage, hacktivism, and financially motivated crimes continue to converge, this trajectory is driven by multiple factors, many of which depend on the societal context in which the cybercrime originates. This comes as nation-state threat actors have been observed empowering local cybercriminal outfits to further geopolitical objectives. A shadow industry of offensive cyber tooling research and development companies has emerged, widening the R&D capabilities for state-sponsored cyber espionage groups. Additionally, relationships between intelligence agencies and ransomware actors may be present, increasing the sophistication of financially driven cybercrime gangs.…

I came into this business after twenty years as a television executive with an absolute belief in storytelling as the most powerful way to communicate ideas. From Aesop’s Fables to Dickens to George Lucas, stories instruct, engage, and shift behavior. That principle drives me to teach through story. Here are a few from my own life. Ride the Bus (Start with empathy) – As a television executive, I was told by a producer to ride the bus.…

AI Agent and Agentic Network Traditional security products protect assets such as devices, endpoints, users, applications, and workloads. AI agents represent a distinct category of assets. These agents are highly intelligent and autonomous applications that operate at machine speed and on an IoT scale. The rise of Agentic AI, the emergence and adoption of AI agents and agent-to-agent networking to autonomously perform tasks on behalf of humans, has introduced unique challenges for existing security products. At the same time, AI agents utilize the same networking infrastructure as users and applications to communicate. This infrastructure encompasses Internet, private and public clouds,…

Hackers used the secrets stolen in the recent Nx supply chain attack to make public over 6,700 private repositories, cybersecurity firm Wiz says. As part of the attack, dubbed s1ngularity, a threat actor used an NPM token for the Nx repository to publish eight malicious versions of the popular open source, technology-agnostic build platform. These malicious Nx iterations contained a post-install script designed to execute a malicious telemetry.js file on Linux and macOS systems, to systematically search the machines for files containing API keys, GitHub tokens, NPM tokens, SSH keys, and cryptocurrency wallet data. After harvesting files of interest, the…
ChatGPT is getting two big changes. First, the Projects feature is now free. Second, you can now create new conversations from existing conversations. Projects have been around for months now, but they’re now rolling out to everyone, including those with a free plan. With Projects, you can create “workspaces” with ChatGPT and organise chats, files and custom instructions for a specific project. Right now, when you interact with ChatGPT, it tries to remember everything, which isn’t really great when you want it to specifically remember everything in a particular conversation when you’re interacting with GPT in other conversations. OpenAI says…
