A software developer has been sentenced to four years in prison for sabotaging his ex-employer’s Windows network with custom malware and a kill switch that locked out employees when his account was disabled. Davis Lu, 55, a Chinese national living legally in Houston, worked for an Ohio-based company, reportedly Eaton Corporation, from 2007 until his termination in 2019. After a corporate restructuring and subsequent demotion in 2018, the DOJ says that Lu retaliated by embedding malicious code throughout the company’s Windows production environment. The malicious code included an infinite Java thread loop designed to overwhelm servers and crash production systems. Lu also…
and evaluations are critical to ensuring robust, high-performing LLM applications. However, such topics are often overlooked in the greater scheme of LLMs. Imagine this scenario: You have an LLM query that replies correctly 999/1000 times when prompted. However, you have to run backfilling on 1.5 million items to populate the database. In this (very realistic) scenario, you’ll experience 1500 errors for this LLM prompt alone. Now scale this up to 10s, if not 100s of different prompts, and you’ve got a real scalability issue at hand. The solution is to validate your LLM output and ensure high performance using evaluations,…

The New Network Frontier: Edge Computing and the Crisis of Connectivity Editor’s note: This is the second post in a four-part series exploring the architectural gaps, strategic risks, and emerging models shaping the future of edge networking. In this series, we explore why traditional connectivity is failing at the cloud edge and what it will take to build secure, high-performance networks for the next generation of AI-driven, latency-sensitive applications. Previously, we explored the security blind spots created by traditional network perimeters. In this entry, we turn to why tunnel-free architectures are the foundation of the Trusted Cloud Edge. => Read Part…
In brief Acting chair Caroline Pham said Thursday the sprint expands to custody, leveraged retail trading, and consumer protections, with feedback due October 20. The initiative is part of a four-phase process that began August 1, running alongside the SEC’s Project Crypto. (CBI), a Tokyo-based design subsidiary of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd, and is threatening to release sensitive files unless its demands are met. On its dark web leak site, the group claimed it had copied more than 4 terabytes of data, including 405882 files, from Nissan CBI. The post alleged that the stolen material includes 3D design data, reports, photos, videos, and various internal documents…
SailPoint unveiled SailPoint Accelerated Application Management, a solution that redefines how enterprises discover, govern, and secure applications at scale. While most organizations govern fewer than 50 applications, thousands more remain outside governance, creating serious risk. SailPoint’s new approach represents a strategic shift: combining intelligence with expert-led deployment to deliver coverage and compliance at a fraction of the cost and complexity of competing solutions, delivering value while setting a new market standard. Today, many organizations connect only a subset of their applications to identity security tools. Traditional connectors, while comprehensive, are complex – often requiring deep application knowledge, lengthy manual processes…
Rancher Government Solutions (RGS) has announced a strategic partnership with Norseman Defense Technologies to launch Odin’s Edge—a fully autonomous, enterprise-grade edge AI platform built to operate in the most austere and disconnected environments. Odin’s Edge combines Norseman’s expertise in tactical, resilient hardware with RGS’s hardened Kubernetes-native software stack to deliver a cloud-native “platform in a box.” Designed specifically for defense, intelligence, and emergency response use cases, the solution provides real-time AI and compute capabilities at the edge—without the need for cloud connectivity. “We’re helping Norseman build a true cloud-native appliance that goes far beyond legacy cloud-dependent ‘edge’ solutions,” said Ryan Lewis, RGS’s…
