A small-town water system, a county hospital, and a local school district may not seem like front-line targets in global conflict, but they are. These organizations face daily cyber attacks, from ransomware to foreign adversaries probing for weak points. What happens to them can ripple into national security, disrupting everything from healthcare to transportation. That is the warning in a new report from the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC), which reviews the current threat environment, recent successes, and the top needs identified by state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) organizations. The report stresses that SLTT organizations are responsible…
The battle against cybercrime continues to be a significant topic for organizations across all industries, however the threat to the health care industry is possibly the most serious. Financial losses can be devastating for an organization, however when the potential for loss of life is at stake, the whole game is changed. While healthcare professionals should not have to be cybersecurity experts, because of the times we live in, we are all going to have to have some knowledge in this area to protect ourselves both personally and to protect our organizations. Cybercriminals send an estimated 6.4 billion fake emails…

A DHS official said the relocation was necessary for safety, though Noem continues to pay rent on her Navy Yard residence. The move comes as Noem has pointed to what she describes as a sharp rise in violence against ICE agents, citing what…
To protect against Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attacks in mobile, you need robust end-to-end security that includes certificate pinning as part of a broader solution which eliminates on-device threats and allows fast and easy pin rotation. See this blog for a short overview of the MitM issue in mobile. The post Debunking Myths and Best Practices for MitM Protection in Mobile Apps appeared first on Security Boulevard.

CrowdStrike, which detected Shamos, reports that the malware has attempted infections against over three hundred environments worldwide that they monitor since June 2025. Promoted through ClickFix attacks Victims are lured via malvertising or fake GitHub repositories that utilize…
One of the main problems that arises in high-dimensional density estimation is that as our dimension increases, our data becomes more sparse. Therefore, for models that rely on local neighborhood estimation we need exponentially more data as our dimension increases to continue getting meaningful results. This is referred to as the curse of dimensionality. In my previous article on density estimation, I demonstrated how the kernel density estimator (KDE) can be effectively used for one-dimensional data. However, its performance deteriorates significantly in higher dimensions. To illustrate this, I ran a simulation to determine how many samples are required for KDE…
The U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) warns that transit agencies face mounting cybersecurity risks that threaten the delivery of safe and reliable services. In response, the agency has released a white paper outlining the preliminary content of a Transit Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) Community Profile, which takes a mission-driven approach to identifying practical cybersecurity outcomes tailored to the sector’s unique challenges. The paper provides an update on progress to date, highlights community-driven priorities shaping the Profile, and describes key features of the draft. NIST aims to use this input to engage public and private stakeholders ahead of publishing…
