If you read the title of this article, you might probably think that ResNeXt is directly derived from ResNet. Well, that’s true, but I think it’s not entirely accurate. In fact, to me ResNeXt is kind of like the combination of ResNet, VGG, and Inception at the same time — I’ll show you the reason in a second. In this article we are going to talk about the ResNeXt architecture, which includes the history, the details of the architecture itself, and the last but not least, the code implementation from scratch with PyTorch. The History of ResNeXt The hyperparameter we usually put our…
The Cisco Live Network Operations Center (NOC) deployed Cisco Umbrella for Domain Name Service (DNS) queries and security. The Security Operations Center (SOC) team integrated the DNS logs into Splunk Enterprise Security and Cisco XDR. To protect the Cisco Live attendees on the network, the default Security profile was enabled, to block queries to known malware, command and control, phishing, DNS tunneling and cryptomining domains. There are occasions when a person needs to go to a blocked domain, such a live demonstration or training session. During the Cisco Live San Diego 2025 conference, and other conferences we have worked in…
Terry Gerton: You have had a couple of weeks now, along with the rest of the government contracting space, to sort out this recent president’s executive order on cybersecurity. Give us your key takeaways. Townsend Bourne: Thank you, yes. So this executive order, as you mentioned, we’ve had some time to digest it. We’ve been through the different sections. As I mentioned in the article that our team wrote, this executive that came out on June 6 by itself doesn’t impose any particular new requirements, but it includes deletions and updates to prior executive orders. So what our team did…

An ex-ransomware negotiator is under criminal investigation by the Department of Justice for allegedly working with ransomware gangs to profit from extortion payment deals. The suspect is a former employee of DigitalMint, a Chicago-based incident response and digital asset services company that specializes in ransomware negotiation and facilitating cryptocurrency payments to receive a decryptor or prevent stolen data from being publicly released. The company claims to have conducted over 2,000 ransomware negotiations since 2017. Bloomberg first reported that the DOJ is investigating whether the suspect worked with ransomware gangs to negotiate payments, then allegedly received a cut of the ransom that was…
Brian Fehrman // External and Internal vulnerability scans are often part of any penetration test. Automated scanning tools, however, can’t always find the “good stuff.” Many times, some of the worst things that we find are in the results marked as Low-Severity or Informational in nature. It can be as easy as just visiting a web service that is exposed and finding that the default credentials haven’t been changed. As an attacker, why bother exploiting a system when they can just login with credentials that were found with a quick Google search? How about systems with no authentication? For larger…

A Mexican drug cartel spies on the FBI using traffic cameras and spyware — because “ubiquitous technical surveillance” is no longer just for dystopian thrillers. Graham digs into a chilling new US Justice Department report that shows how surveillance tech was weaponised to deadly effect. Meanwhile, Carole checks the rear-view mirror on the driverless car industry. Whatever happened to those million Tesla robotaxis Elon Musk promised by 2020? Spoiler: they’re here — sort of — but they sometimes drive into oncoming traffic. Plus: Leighton House, heatwave survival gadgets, and an unflushable toilet situation (not what you think). All this and…
