, Microsoft released its latest Healthcare AI paper, Sequential Diagnosis with Language Models, and it shows immense promise. They label it “The Path to Medical Superintelligence”. Are doctors going to get overtaken by AI? Is this really a revolutionary advancement in our field? Although the paper has just been submitted for review and may need additional experimentation, this article will go over the main points of the paper and provide some discussion and limitations of the paper. The overall headlines are eye-popping: a method to increase AI diagnostic performance to 80% (with Microsoft’s new SDBench metric). But let’s see how…

Welcome to Slate Sundays, CryptoSlate’s new weekly feature showcasing in-depth interviews, expert analysis, and thought-provoking op-eds that go beyond the headlines to explore the ideas and voices shaping the future of crypto.I recently interviewed Gracy Chen, the first female CEO of Bitget and the only female CEO out of the top 10 centralized exchanges. I wanted to ask about her vision, skills, background, and achievements (and I did), but, inevitably, given her minority position and the fact that we were at a press conference announcing an initiative to educate females in blockchain, the conversation turned to her sex.Whether we like it…

Google Gemini for Workspace can be exploited to generate email summaries that appear legitimate but include malicious instructions or warnings that direct users to phishing sites without using attachments or direct links. Such an attack leverages indirect prompt injections that are hidden inside an email and obeyed by Gemini when generating the message summary.  Despite similar prompt attacks being reported since 2024 and safeguards being implemented to block misleading responses, the technique remains successful. Attack through Gemini A prompt-injection attack on Google’s Gemini model was disclosed through 0din, Mozilla’s bug bounty program for generative AI tools, by researcher Marco Figueroa,…

, we explored trend, seasonality, and residuals using temperature data as our example. We started by uncovering patterns in the data with Python’s seasonal_decompose method. Next, we made our first temperature forecasts using standard baseline models like the seasonal naive. From there, we went deeper and learned how seasonal_decompose actually computes the trend, seasonality and residual components. We extracted those pieces to build a decomposition-based baseline model and then experimented with custom baselines tailored to our data. Finally, we evaluated each model using Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) to see how well our approaches performed. In the first two parts,…

In the face of growing threats and attacks, OT cybersecurity reporting is a consistent chink in the armor across critical infrastructure environments. Across many organizations, OT (operational technology) security continues to report into IT chains of command that are not visible to operations risk, leading to slower response times, limited cross-domain orchestration, and dirty boardrooms that are unaware of the weaknesses and critical needs of operational environments. Recent cybersecurity incidents have revealed that these aging reporting mechanisms are downright brittle, especially in the haze of a cyberattack, where murky responsibilities, unclear roles, and misaligned governance stymie decisions and obscure accountability.…

In an era of rapidly evolving threats, federal defense agencies need to process vast amounts of real-time battlefield data to make faster, more informed decisions. For military and defense teams, the ability to take full advantage of real-time data can mean the difference between mission success and failure. Digital twins, virtual replicas of real-world assets, have traditionally assisted in the development of complex structures, like jet engines. They are now emerging as a mission-critical tool for tracking dynamic threats in the battlespace, enhancing situational awareness, and optimizing defense logistics. What are real-time digital twins? Real-time digital twins are software-based, memory-hosted…
