Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has activated the National Guard in response to a crippling cyberattack that struck the City of Saint Paul, the state’s capital, on Friday. The city is currently working with local, state, and federal partners to investigate the attack and restore full functionality, and says that emergency services have been unaffected. However, online payments are currently unavailable, and some services in libraries and recreation centers are temporarily unavailable. “While many city services remain available, some may be temporarily delayed or disrupted due to limited system access. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to bring…
If you thought using a public phone charger was safe, it’s time to think again. Despite years of updates aimed at protecting smartphones from “juice jacking” attacks, cybersecurity researchers have identified a new threat that sidesteps those very safeguards. A new study now outlines how attackers are now using a method called Choicejacking to exploit smartphones into granting unauthorised access, often without the user realising anything happened. From Juice Jacking to Choicejacking Juice jacking first made headlines over a decade ago, when hackers used infected charging stations to either steal data or inject malware into connected phones. In response, smartphone…
Just ahead of Black Hat USA 2025, Darwinium has announced the launched Beagle and Copilot, two new agentic AI features that simulate adversarial attacks, surface hidden vulnerabilities, and dynamically optimize fraud defenses. As fraudsters increasingly deploy AI agents to evade detection and manipulate digital systems, Darwinium gives defenders their own autonomous AI capabilities, built natively into its behavioral intelligence platform. “Consumers are using AI agents to shop faster. Fraudsters are using them to bypass defenses at scale,” said Alisdair Faulkner, CEO and Co-Founder of Darwinium. “The challenge isn’t detecting bots anymore, it’s distinguishing AI agents acting on behalf of good…
AI agents are showing up in more parts of the customer journey, from product discovery to checkout. And fraudsters are also putting them to work, often with alarming success. In response, cyberfraud prevention leader Darwinium is launching two AI-powered features, Beagle and Copilot, that simulate adversarial behavior and help security teams stay ahead of threats. Announced just ahead of Black Hat USA 2025, these features are designed to give defenders their own AI capabilities. Beagle red-teams digital journeys with autonomous agents, while Copilot helps teams detect threats and fine-tune defenses using platform-native intelligence. “Both your best customers and your biggest…
Google’s Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) uncovered a fast-moving cyber campaign carried out by UNC3944, a financially driven threat actor linked to the groups known as ‘0ktapus,’ ‘Octo Tempest,’ and ‘Scattered Spider.’ Initially flagged by FBI alerts, the campaign was observed shifting its ransomware and extortion tactics toward the U.S. retail sector before rapidly expanding to include airlines, transportation firms, and insurance providers across North America. GTIG warned that the group’s operations were not only escalating in scope but also in sophistication, signaling a coordinated assault on high-value industries. The group’s core tactics have remained consistent and do not rely on…
Key Points: Check Point Research has discovered the JSCEAL campaign, which targets crypto app users by leveraging malicious advertisements The campaign uses fake applications impersonating popular cryptocurrency trading apps, with over 35,000 malicious ads served in the first half of 2025, generating millions of impressions in the EU alone JSCEAL malware, which is delivered through sophisticated multi-layered infection flows, steals cryptocurrency-related data like credentials and wallets, making it a serious threat to crypto app users The campaign utilizes a modular structure, enabling attackers to adapt new tactics and payloads as needed, making it difficult for traditional security mechanisms to detect…
Pro-Ukraine hacktivists claim cyberattack on Russian Airline Aeroflot that caused the cancellation of +100 flights Pierluigi Paganini July 29, 2025 A cyberattack claimed by Ukrainian group Silent Crow and Belarusian Cyber-Partisans crippled Aeroflot ’s systems, canceling over 100 flights. On July 28, 2025, a cyberattack claimed by Ukrainian group Silent Crow and Belarusian Cyber-Partisans crippled the systems of Russian state-owned carrier Aeroflot. Over 100 flights were cancelled following the attack, which also caused delays. The attack paralyzed the carrier’s IT systems and the company website was unreachable. Aeroflot warned of IT issues on Monday, later confirmed as a cyberattack by…
a Physics-Informed Neural Network (PINN) feels a lot like giving a regular neural network a cheat sheet. Without a cheat sheet, we could estimate solutions to a physical system using only a neural network. Position (x) and Time (t) as inputs, Temperatures (u) as outputs. With sufficient data, this solution would be effective. However, it doesn’t utilize the physics we know about the system. We would expect temperatures to follow the dynamics of the heat equation, and we would also like to incorporate that into our neural network. PINNs offer a method for combining the known physics about a system…
Maximizing the opportunities of our AI-driven future is a whole-of-society imperative, and Palo Alto Networks applauds the White House’s recently released AI Action Plan for providing a roadmap to do just that. It’s no secret that AI development and deployment are accelerating exponentially, bringing endless possibilities to reimagine our digital way of life. At Palo Alto Networks, we’ve been on the frontlines of this transformation. In fact, we first introduced machine learning capabilities as part of our malware protection offering 10 years ago and now deploy over 30 products that leverage AI, with many more in development. We sit here…
