Natural Language Processing, or NLP, is a part of AI that focuses on understanding text. It’s about helping machines read, process, and find useful patterns or information within a text, for our apps. SpaCy is a library that makes this work easier and faster. Many developers today use huge models like ChatGPT or Llama for most NLP tasks. These models are powerful and can do a lot, but they’re often costly and slow. In real-world projects, we need something more focused and quick. This is where spaCy helps a lot. Now, spaCy even lets you combine its strengths with large…

New Linux backdoor Plague bypasses auth via malicious PAM module Pierluigi Paganini August 02, 2025 A stealthy Linux backdoor named Plague, hidden as a malicious PAM module, allows attackers to bypass auth and maintain persistent SSH access. Nextron Systems researchers discovered a new stealthy Linux backdoor called Plague, hidden as a malicious PAM (Pluggable Authentication Module) module. It silently bypasses authentication and grants persistent SSH access. A Pluggable Authentication Module (PAM) is a flexible system used in Unix-like operating systems (like Linux) to manage authentication tasks. In simple terms, PAM allows system administrators to plug in different authentication methods (like…

Bitcoin’s on-chain activity lit up again as Blockstream CEO Adam Back alerted the Bitcoin community to the return of the so-called “Bitfinex whale.” According to Back, this unknown but powerful entity has been accumulating Bitcoin at a staggering rate, purchasing roughly 300 BTC per day over the past 48 hours using time-weighted average price (TWAP) buying strategies. He emphasized:“For context 300btc/day that’s $400/second all day, historically they’ve done this days, weeks continuously and ramped it up too harder too up to 1000btc/day ($1300/second all-day at these prices).”The Bitfinex whale effectThe sustained appetite of this whale, especially one connected with Bitfinex,…

Why you should read this article data scientists whip up a Jupyter Notebook, play around in some cells, and then maintain entire data processing and model training pipelines in the same notebook. The code is tested once when the notebook was first written, and then it is neglected for some undetermined amount of time – days, weeks, months, years, until: The outputs of the notebook need to be rerun to re-generate outputs that were lost. The notebook needs to be rerun with different parameters to retrain a model. Something needed to be changed upstream, and the notebook needs to be…

A new and deceptive multi-stage malware campaign has been identified by the Lat61 Threat Intelligence team at security firm Point Wild. The attack uses a clever technique involving malicious Windows Shortcut, or LNK, files, a simple pointer to a program or file, to deliver a dangerous remote-access trojan (RAT) known as REMCOS. The research, led by Dr. Zulfikar Ramzan, the CTO of Point Wild, and shared with Hackread.com, reveals that the campaign starts with a seemingly harmless shortcut file, possibly attached to an email, with a filename like “ORDINE-DI-ACQUIST-7263535.” When a user clicks on it, the LNK file discreetly runs…

Anthropic says it has revoked OpenAI’s access to the Claude API after ChatGPT’s engineers were found using Claude’s coding tools. Claude Code is better than any other coding tool in the AI coding industry, also known as “Vibe coding.” With Claude, you can create web apps from scratch, and it’s also pretty efficient with infra-related work. Not just vibe coders who don’t know how to code use Claude, but also professional engineers. In fact, Claude Code is also used in Claude’s development at Anthropic. Anthropic offers API access to Claude, which means OpenAI could also access it. But on Friday,…
